WHAT HAPPENED?

Bonmati had an incredible 2023 where she won the FIFA World Cup with Spain and also secured a treble with Barcelona hence she was bestowed with the Ballon d'Or and The Best FIFA Women's Player award for the same year. In fact, she also won the Golden Ball after being named player of the tournament for her heroics in the Women's World Cup.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Bonmati was sensational against the Netherlands in the Nations League last four encounter and found the net in Spain's 3-0 triumph over the Dutch. She has been involved in 10 goals in her last 15 appearances between the World Cup 2023 (three goals and two assists) and the Nations League 2023/24 (four goals and one assist), which is the most by a player in her side. And after her strike in the final, she boasts of having scored 23 goals in 62 international appearances.
