<p>Despite Postecoglou's strong start at Tottenham Hotspur last season, things have not followed the pattern that fans would have hoped for. The North London side flopped in the second half of the campaign and have been in abysmal form this season as they sit in 15th place, just eight points clear of the relegation zone and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/time-up-ange-postecoglou-tottenham-relegation-battle-replacing-manager-new-reality/blt9249289f5ad9ab9a" target="_blank">potentially facing the prospect of being dragging into a battle to avoid relegation</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>On Sunday evening, Tottenham fell to fellow strugglers Everton after they failed to come back from a three-goal first-half deficit in a 3-2 loss at Goodison Park. As such, a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/tottenham-fans-tell-ange-postecoglou-fck-off-defeat-everton-relegation-fear-six-winless/blte0181e6912895e66" target="_blank">many claims had been made that Spurs co-owner Daniel Levy may be looking to terminate the Australian manager's contract</a> with the club. However, <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/01/20/ange-postecoglou-safe-tottenham-future-manager-critical-run/" target="_blank">The Telegraph</a> has now reported that the North London side's top brass are keen on backing Postecoglou further as they understand the Australian has had to deal with a number of key injuries and a squad reduced to the bare bones this season.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>It has also been reported by <a href="https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/abandoned-ange-postecoglou-tottenhams-transfer-30817097" target="_blank">football.london</a> that Tottenham Hotspur's board are willing to back Postecoglou with signings this month. However, that has not been the case so far almost two-thirds into the month. The North London side only have just over 10 days remaining of the current window to make signings to offer any sort of squad strength to Postecoglou for the rest of the season.</p>
