Los Blancos are intent on signing Mbappe, but won't offer a mammoth contract similar to the one they presented to the Frenchman in 2022, according to <a href="https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/39384115/mbappe-considering-offers-real-madrid-psg-sources" target="_blank">ESPN</a>. The 14-time Champions League winners are reportedly intent on keeping their wage structure intact, which would mean asking Mbappe to take a significant pay cut from his current deal, which pays him €37m (£32m/$40m) per season.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Mbappe is yet to make a clear statement on his future, and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/agreement-psg-kylian-mbappe-cryptic-update-future-areal-madrid-transfer-speculation/blt80c6e8056ae93ad7" target="_blank">has insisted that he hasn't decided on a future destination</a>: "I haven’t made my decision. I didn't make a choice. But in any case, with the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision we managed to protect all the parties. And to preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come. Which is the most important? When will I decide? I do not know."

WHAT MBAPPE SAID

Los Blancos were close to signing Mbappe in 2022, but he made an <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/kylian-mbappe-sign-psg-contract-clause-guarantees-leave-next-summer/blt20c5ecec01f9df94" target="_blank">unexpected u-turn</a>, penning a three-year contract to stay in Paris. He complicated the situation last summer, though, when he told the Parisians he will opt out of his contract in June. <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/kylian-mbappe-psg-president-nasser-al-khelaifi-real-madrid-liverpool/bltbf7adc2f572c4a79" target="_blank">He is now free to negotiate with any club he likes.</a>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The forward may not have made a decision but will have to before this summer. He has offers on the table from both PSG and Madrid, while <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/liverpool-kylian-mbappe-transfer-real-madrid/blt1f424c505468f86a" target="_blank">Liverpool also hold an interest in securing his signature</a>. On the pitch, the Parisians will face third-placed Brest in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
