However, he will remain in Spain on lower wages than he currently earns.</p>

<p>Despite a decline in form in the second half of the season, Atleti have shut down any possibility of Griezmann departing this summer. The club want to offer him a new deal on reduced terms until 2027, with Diego Simeone personally requesting that the club retain the French forward. Simeone remains convinced that Griezmann is a vital figure both on and off the pitch for Los Rojiblancos, and considers him an integral part of the club's plans for next season.</p>
