<p>In January, it was reported that the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/arsenal-win-martin-zubimendi-transfer-race-gbp51m-deal-real-sociedad-star-virtually-completed/blt4162912a892a1432#cs878dbd541f9dab77" target="_blank">Gunners were in advanced talks with Real Sociedad</a> over sealing a transfer for Zubimendi in the summer. However, last month fresh reports emerged that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/arsenal-martin-zubimendi-real-madrid-pressure-spain-midfielder-60m-move-real-sociedad/bltf81452053999289d#cs08028b5f6004f3c6" target="_blank">Real Madrid have joined the transfer race</a> and are determined to seal a €60 million (£51m/$68m) move for the Spanish midfielder.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The Athletic's <a href="https://x.com/David_Ornstein/status/1915135539503653364" target="_blank"><em>David Ornstein</em></a> now reports that the Gunners are confident that Zubimendi will arrive in north London in the upcoming summer transfer window. The journalist said: "They’ll be adding to the midfield with the arrival of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. Arsenal are acting internally as if that is a done deal."</p>

<p>Earlier on Wednesday, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6302218/2025/04/23/thomas-partey-arsenal-contract-new/" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a> reported that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/thomas-partey-arsenal-u-turn-talks-over-shock-new-gunners-contract/blt078465cc8974ba50#csddfda4ce7edf672d" target="_blank">Thomas Partey is in talks with the Gunners</a> over extending his contract beyond this summer. The midfielder looked set to run down his contract and head for pastures new in the coming months, but that may change now.</p>
