<p>Havertz opened the scoring during a tense last-16 encounter in Dortmund. With the game having been suspended in the first-half <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/germany-denmark-stopped-thunder-lightning-storm-players-safety/bltb826e95105f9da65" target="_blank">due to a thunderstorm</a>, and stopped in the second due to a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/explained-how-masked-man-caused-second-half-delay-during-germany-s-euro-2024-last-16-victory-over-denmark/blt4b5b009e7a8096ee" target="_blank">masked man climbing the rafters</a>, Germany needed a spark. Having seen <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/outrage-germany-penalty-michael-oliver-controversial-handball-var-rules-out-denmark-goal-euro-2024-clash/blt748fd22da2478330" target="_blank">Joachim Andersen's goal controversially ruled out</a>, they went up the other end and won a penalty, again in debatable circumstances, which Havertz coolly rolled home. </p>

<p>Jamal Musiala went on to score a second German goal as they comfortably booked a quarter-final place in their own backyard. Havertz has enjoyed a sterling tournament so far, having scored and assisted in Germany's 5-1 thumping of Scotland.</p>
