Arsenal & Man Utd given huge Viktor Gyokeres boost as Sporting CP cut asking price for striker - but Saudi Pro League side willing to outspend Premier League giants in race to sign Sweden star

<p>Gyokeres has been in top form this season with Sporting and has been linked with a number of clubs as a big-money summer move has seemed like the likeliest outcome for the Swedish striker. Arsenal and Manchester United are two clubs that are keen on signing a striker this summer, however, a move for Gyokeres has been put off so far due to the Portuguese side's high asking price. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>However, <a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/34285373/arsenal-files-viktor-gyokeres-transfer-sporting/" target="_blank">The Sun</a> has now reported that Sporting have slashed their asking price for Gyokeres for the summer transfer window and are now ready to accept a transfer fee between £55 million ($70.7m) and £70 million ($90m). The transfer fee is still a considerable sum; however, it is much lower compared to the fee that was discussed in January. </p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The slashing of Sporting's asking price may be good news for United and Arsenal, however, The Sun has also reported that Saudi Pro League newcomers, Al-Qadsiyah, are also in the hunt to sign Gyokeres this summer as they continue to try and challenge Saudi Arabia's big four. The SPL side will have a monetary edge in the race to sign the Swede as they have a bigger bank to offer Sporting a bigger fee up-front, which the Portuguese club prefers. </p>

<p>It is still unknown if Gyokeres himself is keen on moving to the Saudi Pro League so soon; and while he has a 'soft spot' for United boss Amorim, he may be put off by the Red Devils' form. </p>
