Arsenal player ratings vs Wolfsburg: Lotte Wubben-Moy pays the price as Gunners suffer late heartbreak in Women's Champions League semi-final

Arsenal's Women's Champions League dream was ended by Wolfsburg on Monday at the Emirates as the German side emerged 3-2 winners on the night, 5-4 on aggregate, to set up a meeting with Barcelona in the final in June.

Stina Blackstenius got the Gunners off to a flying start when she broke the deadlock after only 11 minutes, rounding goalkeeper Merle Frohms after a superb through ball by Lia Walti. However, former Arsenal midfielder Jill Roord levelled things up with a terrific strike from the edge of the box just before half-time.

It was the towering Alex Popp that set her up for that equaliser with a header and the versatile veteran would use that method to put the visitors into the lead before the hour mark, getting on the end of a great corner from Felicitas Rauch.

But Arsenal defender Jen Beattie levelled things up again with 15 minutes to play as she rose highest to direct Lotte Wubben-Moy's delivery into the bottom corner.

It sent the game in extra time and it was there that Wolfsburg won it, with Jule Brand stealing the ball off Wubben-Moy and teeing up Pauline Bremer late on for a tap in at the back post to break the Gunners' hearts.
