<p>Speaking in his first press conference as Madrid head coach, Alonso made it clear the Brazilian winger remains a crucial part of his plans <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/rodrygo-agent-contact-two-premier-league-clubs-real-madrid-hefty-price-tag-on-brazilian/blt0865e26e7e978f51" target="_blank">despite reports his agent is sounding out Premier League interest</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The 24-year-old is said to be unhappy with his current role at Madrid following the arrival of Kylian Mbappe and it was recently revealed that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/arsenal-rival-chelsea-gunners-transfer-interest-real-madrid-rodrygo-mystery-future/bltae13e285574b2849" target="_blank">Arsenal and Chelsea are both keeping tabs on him</a>.</p><p>The Brazilian camp has apparently contacted clubs in England to assess the market, and the price being floated is between €80 million (£67m/$91m) and €100m (£84m/$114m). However, despite all the speculation, Rodrygo has never publicly said he wants to leave.</p>

<p>Alonso says he has no desire to let the 24-year-old leave in the next transfer window, though, telling reporters: "Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player, and I will speak to everyone at Real Madrid. They deserve it, and we need him. Rodrygo is an amazing player; we will need him."</p>
