Barcelona deal breaks down! Palmeiras break off talks to sign flop Vitor Roque in €25m deal as La Liga block transfer

<p>Roque, who was very close to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/vitor-roque-opens-up-bad-times-barcelona-admits-idolising-lionel-messi-rival-cristiano-ronaldo/blt048689d0d4d3a813" target="_blank">ending his nightmare journey in Spain</a> and returning to his homeland to sign for Brazilian giants Palmeiras, will have to stay back in La Liga for at least until the end of the 2024/25 campaign, as according to Brazilian journalist Andre Hernan, Palmeiras have ended transfer talks with Barcelona.  </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Last weekend, <a href="https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/ultima-traspaso-vitor-roque-palmeiras-114591327" target="_blank"><em>Sport</em></a> reported that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/barcelona-nearing-deal-for-flop-palmeiras-in-advanced-talks-to-sign-real-betis-loanee-vitor-roque/blt3581f46bfe23cdc5#cs9b0e4dd58428d772" target="_blank">Palmeiras are willing to offer a €25 million (£20m/$26m) transfer fee</a> to sign Roque permanently from Barcelona. Accordingly, the Blaugrana were preparing to bring back the striker from his loan spell at Real Betis, however, <em>Jijantes </em>reported on Monday that La Liga will not authorise the transfer as the Catalan giants will have to first end his loan spell and re-register the Brazilian before then can sell him to Palmeiras. The transfer window is currently closed in Spain and as a result, the above process cannot go through. Also, as per La Liga regulations, Betis cannot loan out a player whom they have registered on a loan deal. </p>

<p>Palmeiras had reportedly reached a verbal agreement with the striker's agent Andre Cury over his wages and were prepared to make the teenager the highest-paid player in their squad. </p>
