Just as Barca start to return to full fitness, crisis strikes. The Blaugrana were crippled for almost two months, losing Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Pedri, Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong for various periods. That they stayed afloat in La Liga during that time is, frankly, surprising.
And right as most of them returned, a far longer, and more serious injury has impacted Barca's season. Gavi tore his ACL on Spain duty in November, and will be out for a long period of time — certainly sure to miss the rest of the campaign. But they have navigated a few tricky fixtures since his injury, and will hope that a fully fit Pedri and De Jong can help propel them back into the title race.
