It would be a blow for the Blues who had seen <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-jamie-gittens-transfer-club-world-cup-two-premier-league-alternatives/blt69b24d325cfd9613#cs587e89588dfe9af3" target="_blank">an initial offer knocked back by Dortmund</a> as they look to bolster their front line.</p>

<p>Should Bayern prove too strong competition for Chelsea in the hunt for Gittens, then the west London club will have to explore other options. Lyon's Malick Fofana and Brighton's Joao Pedro have <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-jamie-gittens-transfer-club-world-cup-two-premier-league-alternatives/blt69b24d325cfd9613#cs6036eed3f0602b53" target="_blank">emerged as possible alternative options</a> in attack, but little progress has been made on a move for either player so far.
