'We want the best players' - Bayern Munich boss admits Florian Wirtz 'dream' as German giants aim to beat Man City and Real Madrid to Bayer Leverkusen superstar

<p>Bayern Munich have been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/bayern-munich-new-no-10-bundesliga-giants-continue-florian-wirtz-pursuit-bayer-leverkusen-star-harry-kane/blt2579085ebb7217dc#csc53ad3bfb93169df" target="_blank">closely linked with a move for the young German midfielder</a>. Wirtz has been a revelation for Bayer Leverkusen and the Germany national team in the last couple of years and is being touted as one of the finest players the four-time world champions have ever seen. In the 2024/25 campaign, the 21-year-old has already scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists in 33 matches across all competitions. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>After the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/harry-kane-england-star-converts-penalties-bayern-munich-bundesliga-win-werder-bremen/blt4795d95572ebfef8" target="_blank">club's 3-0 win over Werder Bremen</a> on Friday in the Bundesliga, Bayern bosses Herbert Hainer, Jan-Christian Dreesen and Max Eberl revealed that they will be working on their transfer pursuit of the Germany international, as honourary president Uli Hoeness has expressed his desire to see Wirtz the Bayern shirt. Other than Bayern, European giants Real Madrid and Manchester City are also keen on securing the player's services.  </p>

<p>Speaking to <a href="https://sport.sky.de/fussball/artikel/bayern-bosse-sprechen-ueber-wirtz-wunsch-von-uli-hoeness/13305021/35313" target="_blank"><em>Sky Sports</em></a>, Bayern president Herbert Hainer said: "You can always dream." Club CEO Dreesen added: "Uli said that without a time frame. Florian Wirtz is one of the best German players - and you know how we have handled it in recent years: We want the best players to be with us. And that is why Uli is certainly right."</p><p>Sporting director Max Eberl then said: "If I am correctly informed, the player does not have an exit clause. We have to make sure that our finances are in order and we want to make internal transfers first. Then we will see what is possible in the summer."  </p>
