However, according to<a href="https://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/so-viel-soll-der-fc-bayern-fuer-gittens-geboten-haben-686328353446cc6249eaa7ee" target="_blank"><em> Bild</em></a>, he was probably too late. The<em> Bild </em>podcast 'Bayern Insider' reports that Eberl called Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl on Saturday to discuss Gittens. However, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/jamie-gittens-chelsea-immediate-medical-blues-agreement-borussia-dortmund/bltbd129ba75c28ff04" target="_blank">the 20-year-old Englishman is said to have already completed his medical at Chelsea</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Eberl apparently also indicated in his conversation with Kehl that Bayern would "only" be willing to pay a transfer fee of €55 million (£47m/$63m). However, Dortmund are said to have already rejected <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/revealed-why-chelsea-failed-jamie-gittens-club-world-cup-borussia-dortmund-director-winger-sold-worth-transfer-talks/blt6ffea0d3dfc60b34" target="_blank">a more generous offer from Chelsea at the beginning of June</a>, with the Blues now reportedly <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/chelsea-jamie-gittens-blues-pay-up-eur65m-borussia-dortmund-agreeing-package/bltc77d1331b4f0bae0" target="_blank">paying €65m (£55m/$75m), including bonuses, for Gittens</a>.</p><p>The BVB star is said to have been Eberl's preferred candidate for Bayern's desired offensive reinforcement alongside <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/bayern-munich-nico-williams-top-priority-leroy-sane-major-stumbling-block-athletic-club-fight-keep-winger/blt9032da1a0ca2125e" target="_blank">Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao</a>. <p>Gittens is reportedly set to sign a contract with Chelsea until 2032. The England Under 21 international is said to have informed Dortmund's bosses of his desire to leave weeks ago, with only minor details remaining to be finalised before the transfer to London is officially announced. Kehl recently confirmed that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/borussia-dortmund-chief-jamie-gittens-chelsea/blt149cecc5cf6ad643" target="_blank">"things are moving a bit, but no decision has been made yet" regarding Gittens' future</a>.</p>
