The Bundesliga side are in the hunt for a new coach after confirming earlier this season that Tuchel will step down in the summer after just over a year in charge. Bayern were initially linked with Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso but the Spaniard has confirmed he will stay at the BayArena club for at least another season, forcing the Munich club to look elsewhere.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Bayern have since turned to France and Real Madrid hero Zidane as a candidate to take Tuchel's place ahead of next season, <a href="https://www.marca.com/futbol/real-madrid/2024/04/14/661a757d268e3eb2428b458e.html" target="_blank">Marca</a> reports. The Bavarian side have already made contact with the coach's agent to find out if he is open to taking the job.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Zidane had two spells as Madrid coach and won three Champions League titles as well as two La Liga crowns with the club. He has, however, been out of a job since 2021 and has been linked with taking over at Juventus, where he won two Serie A titles and reached two Champions League finals as a player.
