WHAT DORTMUND SAID

There was no fairytale ending for Dortmund or their club captain and legend, Marco Reus. In his last ever game for the club, Reus lost his second Champions League final of his career - both at Wembley. The German winger has been hampered with injury and blighted by team-mates leaving the club throughout his tenure, but his commitment to Dortmund has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/marco-reus-europe-unluckiest-footballer-borussia-dortmund-fairy-tale-ending-champions-league-final/bltba4f5a304d474aa6" target="_blank">written his name into footballing folklore</a>.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

After finishing fifth, Dortmund have just about scraped into next season's Champions League. Edin Terzic's team will be proud of their deep run into the tournament but will be aiming to improve their league standing next term. Bayer Leverkusen's unlikely Bundesliga title will also have Dortmund dreaming of replicating the feat.
