The situation has now worsened as current first-choice centre-backs Rudiger, who suffered a muscle injury, and Alaba, who endured an adductor injury, have been ruled out of action for close to three weeks.</p>

<p>The news comes as a major blow for the Spanish champions, who are scheduled to face Atletico Madrid and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/champions-league-knockout-phase-play-off-draw-man-city-real-madrid-celtic-bayern-munich-ac-milan-feyenoord/blt3fbcedcbc155541f" target="_blank">Manchester City</a> in the next seven days. With the manager providing a timeline for Rudiger and Alaba's injuries, one of Jacobo Ramon and Raul Asencio will pair up with make-shift centre-back Aurelien Tchouameni at the heart of the team's defence. </p>

<p>Speaking to reporters, the Italian coach said: "We are in an emergency, as both Rüdiger and Alaba will be out for 20 days. The only options at centre back are Jacobo Ramón, Raul Asencio and Tchouameni."</p>
