The 21-year-old has been an inspirational figure for the Blues after signing from Manchester City, being directly involved in 19 goals in his last 19 games. England manager Gareth Southgate has already handed Palmer his first cap, and his impressive form has led to suggestions he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/england-squad-power-rankings-three-lions-euro-2024/blte9eb5c767bbe133e" target="_blank">could make the Three Lions squad for Euro 2024</a>. However, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has said he does not think Palmer has done enough to merit a call-up.

WHAT HAPPENED?

He told <a href="https://talksport.com/football/1785873/simon-jordan-chelsea-cole-palmer-england/" target="_blank">talkSPORT</a>: “I think he’s one of the few shining lights. I’d argue that if Manchester City really wanted to, they’d have kept him because they are not under Financial Fair Play or any kind of governance from that point of view. I think they sold him because perhaps they didn’t think he was right for Manchester City. At the stage in Chelsea’s transition, because they've got few shining lights, Cole Palmer will shine through."Ultimately he’s a good player, whether he makes the Euros I think is debatable. I don’t think he’s had quite the impact that would leverage him in there but he can be part of the conversation. There’s the argument that he can be a really significant player in a season where Chelsea have not been what people anticipated.”

WHAT SIMON JORDAN SAID:

Palmer gave his international hopes another boost last time out against Newcastle, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chelsea-player-ratings-vs-newcastle-cole-palmer-raheem-sterling/bltb006367a89106cf4" target="_blank">bagging a goal and an assist</a> in front of Southgate who was watching on from the stands at Stamford Bridge. The England boss is preparing to announce his squad for upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium and will surely have been impressed by the youngster's performance.

Palmer has now both scored and assisted in five different league games this campaign, more than any other Premier League player. He's also scored or assisted over 40% of Chelsea's goals this season.
