Arsenal bolstered their defense by spending £42 million ($53m) to bring Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna in a statement move, while manager Mikel Arteta strengthened the midfield with the acquisition of Spain's Euro 2024 standout Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad for a reasonable fee of £32 million ($42m).
