<p>There has already been talk of Amorim <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/incoming-man-utd-boss-ruben-amorim-reveals-viktor-gyokeres-transfer-plan-sporting-cp-hat-trick-hero-man-city/bltf1c3d272e4e339b0" target="_blank">raiding the ranks at his former employers Sporting for Swedish striker Gyokeres</a> – who boasts a prolific strike rate in Portugal and is being <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bayern-munich-four-man-shortlist-strikers-challenge-harry-kane-vincent-kompany-big-money-no9-transfer/blt87589b02503112cc" target="_blank">linked with big-money moves to clubs across Europe</a>.</p>

<p>Ex-United striker Louis Saha is, however, not convinced that Gyokeres is the right option. He believes Premier League pedigree should be sought when <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-united-destination-harry-kane-premier-league-return-bayern-munich-tottenham-transfer-ruled-out/blt3cbe7a888d27c4e3" target="_blank">luring England captain Kane back to his homeland</a> from German giants Bayern Munich.</p>

<p>Speaking to <em>BoyleSports</em>, who offer the latest&nbsp;<a href="https://www.boylesports.com/sports/football/competition/england-premier-league " target="_blank">Premier League odds</a>, Saha has said: “It might be surprising, but I don’t think Man Utd should go after Viktor Gyokeres. I think he is a good player in an incredible run of form, even in the Champions League, but he won’t get the same luxuries as he does at Sporting. Sporting are not under the same pressure as Manchester United, it’s a completely different animal. Right now United have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee and at times the pressure has looked to be a lot for them to handle too.</p><p>“It’s hard to find players who can do what Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland can do, United need to find players that can really hurt the opposition and are proven in doing so and that’s a big task. United have spent a lot of money and I don’t think Gyokeres is the answer, if you can spend £120 million on Harry Kane then they should do it tomorrow, there are very few guarantees in football but that’s what a club like United needs.”</p>

WHAT SAHA SAID

<p>United have been heavily linked with former Tottenham star Kane in the past, but were <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/explained-how-man-utd-signing-casemiro-killed-harry-kane-chances-transfer-2023-erik-ten-hag-no1-target/blt0d6d51cc7a1efe4c" target="_blank">never able to put a deal in place</a>. It appears unlikely that they would be willing to invest £120m ($154m) in a player that is now 31 years of age, but a reliable source of goals needs to be found from somewhere in order to remain in the hunt for the most prestigious of honours.</p>
