<p>The former Liverpool defender says it is more likely that Ronaldo could <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/cristiano-ronaldo-wrexham-blockbuster-transfer-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-profiles-owners/blt73254ffa26357201" target="_blank">fill a role off the pitch rather than on it when it comes to Wrexham</a>. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney would have hit the jackpot if they could convince the football icon to suit up in League One. However, Lawrenson says the SToK Racecourse's 13,000-capacity would not be enough for the forward to play in front of.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Speaking to <a href="https://www.sportscasting.com/uk" target="_blank"><em>Sports Casting</em></a>, Lawrenson said: "Anything's possible in football these days, even Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Wrexham! I would say that it's highly improbable, he's more likely to purchase the club than sign for them in my eyes. Wrexham don't seat much more than 10k in their stadium, I can't see him playing to such a small audience in all honesty, that said you'd struggle to get a ticket there if he was playing. He'd fill the stadium anywhere he goes."</p>

WHAT LAWRENSON SAID

<p>Even buying a stake in Wrexham seems far-fetched for Ronaldo right now, who has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/no-doubt-cristiano-ronaldo-scotland-portugal-roberto-martinez-al-nassr/blt082fd48bf5e6e5ab" target="_blank">not even finished his playing career.</a> The Al-Nassr striker is looking to lead his team to glory in the Saudi Pro League and his club currently sit just four points off Al-Hilal at the top.</p>

<p>Ronaldo will be relatively close to Wrexham when <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/scotland-v-portugal-live-stream-online-tv-where-to-watch/blte8dc3ffc38f78957" target="_blank">Portugal play Scotland </a>in the Nations League on Tuesday evening.
