<p>The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) released its annual ranking of the top 10 players on the planet this week, but there was no room for <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/player/cristiano-ronaldo/h17s3qts1dz1zqjw19jazzkl" target="_blank">Ronaldo</a>. <a href="https://iffhs.com/posts/3276" target="_blank">Erling Haaland took top spot</a>, with Kylian Mbappe second and Lionel Messi third. The only Portuguese player to make the top 10 was Bernardo Silva in eighth. </p>

WHAT RONALDO SAID

<p>Ronaldo has spent the entire year playing in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr, so perhaps it's not surprising that he has fallen out of the top 10. That said, he will finish 2023 as the highest-scoring male play of the year, having <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/cristiano-ronaldo-georgina-rodriguez-goals-record-al-nassr-haaland/blt12bd0c3433b1b38e" target="_blank">netted 53 goals for club and country</a>. </p>

<p>Ronaldo is clearly a little bothered about his snub, but you can bet he'll be ready to silence his doubters when Al-Nassr take on Al-Taawoun on Saturday. </p>
