<p>Last month, <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5883160/2024/10/30/ten-hag-amorim-welbeck-berrada/" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a> reported that former Manchester United boss <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/revealed-erik-ten-hag-wanted-danny-welbeck-back-man-utd-summer-transfer-window-brighton-striker-replacement-anthony-martial/blt2cca13e23bb72274#cs0e4777bb5ca529f4" target="_blank">Erik ten Hag wanted to sign Welbeck</a> in the summer to solve their crisis in attack. However, the club never made an offer for the striker due to the uncertainty surrounding the Dutchman's future and the backroom restructure that took place in the summer, which delayed United's recruitment plans.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The ex-United star has now responded to the links back to Old Trafford and revealed if he plans to leave Brighton any time soon. Speaking to <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/article/danny-welbeck-interview-brighton-d7jr2l0cs" target="_blank"><em>The Times</em></a>, the forward said: "I'm just focusing on what I can control myself and all the other stuff is pretty irrelevant."</p>
