De Gea is back in football after more than a year out of the game. WHAT HAPPENED?

De Gea's absence was pretty puzzling considering his achievements in the Premier League - although <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/david-de-gea-new-club-man-utd-goalkeeper-transfer-genoa-collapses-salary-demands/blt591e1a757baffaba" target="_blank">his wage demands appear to explain a lot</a>. Still, not only was he a four-time winner of the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award, he won the Golden Glove in his final season in England. But he's back now and will feel that he has plenty more years left at a high level.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

De Gea made 545 appearances for the Red Devils - more than any other foreign player - and his 190 clean sheets is the most for any United goalkeeper.
