<p>The 46-year-old had been recovering at home following a hospital stay, but made his comeback to the training ground this week and will be on the touchline for Saturday’s clash against Ipswich Town at St James’ Park. Although he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/eddie-howe-returns-newcastle-magpies-update-manager-three-match-absence-pneumonia/blt99dfa9cd70f8fa22" target="_blank">admitted he’s not yet back to full strength </a>physically, Howe expressed his determination to lead his team during a crucial phase of the season, as the Magpies chase a top-five finish and potential Champions League qualification.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>During Howe’s absence, assistant head coaches Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones temporarily took the reins. Under their guidance, Newcastle continued their impressive form, securing back-to-back wins at home - a 4-1 demolition of Manchester United followed by a commanding 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace. However, their momentum was halted with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa last weekend. </p>

<p>Speaking to the media on his return, Howe said: "I'm OK, I am not 100% in my body, but 100% in my mind. It's been difficult, I tried to take a positive experience from it, it has been a real challenge, your health you take for granted, I certainly did. Been through a range of emotions, I feel like I am on the road to recovery and glad to be back here. The care that I received from the NHS was first class. I came back in, and normal service resumed, minus running around, a lot more reserved physically."</p>

<p>As the Premier League season enters its final stretch, Newcastle sit fifth in the standings with just five matches remaining. Their impressive recent form - six wins in their last seven matches across all competitions - has solidified their push for a Champions League spot or, at the very least, Europa League qualification.</p>
