<p>The 22-year-old <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/fiorentina-edoardo-bove-collapses-pitch-inter-milan-clash-serie-a-game-suspended/blt12137357871570cf" target="_blank">collapsed on the pitch</a> during Fiorentina's Serie A clash with Inter last weekend and, after a spell in intensive care, he is now recovering from this harrowing ordeal. According to <a href="https://www.calciomercato.com/news/gazzetta-bove-si-al-defibrillatore-interno-non-potra-piu-giocare-31370" target="_blank"><em>Calciomercato</em></a>, the midfielder is <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/edoardo-bove-latest-fiorentina-intensive-care-serie-a-inter/blte10804b34808b694#cs4a9de84229a52309" target="_blank">scheduled to have an operation</a> where he will be fitted with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) - something Christian Eriksen has had since suffering <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/denmark-eriksen-collapse-euro-2020-finland/qmznjvvc99z11ihvi8lxue28l" target="_blank">a cardiac arrest playing for Denmark </a>at Euro 2020. As a result, Bove will never be able to play in the Italian league again due to the country's sports medicine regulations on subcutaneous (under the skin) defibrillators.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>While Inter cancelled Eriksen's contract in late 2021, the Dane has enjoyed a career renaissance in recent years, playing for Brentford and current club Manchester United. So while this is a huge blow for the young Italian, he could yet continue his career and play abroad in the future. But his health is the number one priority.</p>

<p>Bove is currently on loan at Fiorentina from parent club Roma. The Italy Under-21 international made 14 appearances for the Tuscan outfit this season, scoring one goal in the process.</p>

Following the procedure, Bove plans to visit Viola Park to bid farewell to his Fiorentina team-mates, as confirmed by his colleague Dodo in a Twitch stream.
