Ex-Barcelona star Martin Braithwaite eyes takeover of his former La Liga club amid claims he has grudge against current owners

<p>According to <a href="https://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbold/udenlandsk_fodbold/spanskfodbold/medie-braithwaite-hyrer-advokater-vil-koebe-espanyol/10474222" target="_blank"><em>Ekstrabladet</em></a>, the 33-year-old has reportedly hired one of the most prominent law firms in Spain to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/martin-braithwaite-richest-footballers-buying-former-club-espanyol-weeks-after-leaving/blt6b4414fba2c1025a" target="_blank">help him buy La Liga team Espanyol</a> - a side he played for between 2022-24, terminating his contract in the summer before joining Gremio. The report adds the Danish international holds a 'grudge' against the club's current owners.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Gremio striker Braithwaite, who helped Espanyol return to La Liga as they were promoted through the play-offs earlier this year, is said to be a critic of the club's owners - the Rastar Group. They are reportedly not very popular with fans which could open the window for the ex-Barca attacker.</p>
