The Borussia Dortmund forward scored twice in the match while Cody Gakpo opened the scoring in the first half to guide the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/netherlands-player-ratings-vs-romania-cody-gakpo-donyell-malen-liverpool-euro-2024-last-16-dutch-quarter-final/blt684444135a212533" target="_blank">Netherlands to a comfortable 3-0 win</a> over Romania in their Euro 2024 round of 16 clash. However, Malen had to experience a bizarre incident during the tie as he saw a shoe being thrown in his direction while he was on his way to score the team's third goal.
