FIFA reportedly lifts transfer ban on Liga MX's Pumas, club cleared to make signings

Pumas UNAM can now look ahead to the Apertura 2025 with more flexibility, as FIFA <a href="https://amp.mediotiempo.com/futbol/liga-mx/pumas-recibe-autorizacion-de-fifa-para-fichar-jugadores" target="_self">has reportedly lifted the transfer ban</a> that had prevented the club from registering new players. The decision comes after the University-backed team resolved an administrative issue and paid the required fine.Media Tempo was first to report the news of Pumas' ban being lifted.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The club had been listed among sanctioned teams due to delays in submitting documentation to FIFA. However, the matter has since been resolved, and the team no longer appears on the governing body's list of clubs under transfer restrictions. With the ban lifted, Pumas is now free to reinforce its squad ahead of the upcoming season.Efraín Juárez
 is entering his second campaign in charge of Pumas, and his first full season at the helm. He took over midway through the Clausura 2025 following the departure of Gustavo Lema, guiding the team to a balanced record of five wins, four draws, and five losses in 14 matches.
