<p>England captain Kane took the decision to sever career-long ties with Spurs in the summer of 2023 when <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-kane-surprised-bayern-munich-37-goal-striker-challenge-robert-lewandowski/bltf0cdff119d85350a " target="_blank">completing a big-money transfer to the Allianz Arena</a>. The move was made with the intention of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/everyone-laughing-england-harry-kane-selfish-robert-lewandowski-record-bayern-munich-trophy-bid/blt802d3f428a3edcce" target="_blank">bringing a much-publicised wait for major honours to a close</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Kane did <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-kane-james-bond-billing-bayern-munich-record-breaking-fourth-hat-trick-season/bltc77b5502be477ec4" target="_blank">plunder 44 goals across his debut campaign</a> in Munich, but ended it empty-handed as perennial Bundesliga champions Bayern endured a rare off season. The plan is to right those wrongs as soon as possible, with a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-kane-needs-own-ball-bag-hat-trick-hero-leaving-bayern-munich-short-training-equipment-fourth-treble-season/bltfaa8018f0dd83d63" target="_blank">remarkable strike rate being maintained in German football</a>.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Sol Campbell - who once made the decision to leave Tottenham in order to go trophy-chasing at Arsenal - believes <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/main-goal-win-titles-harry-kane-tired-trophy-wait-bayern-munich-striker-ambitious-targets-2024-25/blt1abf563f9ab981c8" target="_blank">Kane’s wait for elusive honours</a> is almost over, with the two-time Premier League title winner telling <strong>GOAL</strong> as part of the <em>Google Pixel ‘Switch Like Sol’</em> campaign: “He deserves it. He has been an incredible ambassador for English football and has gone to Germany, which is an interesting place, in order to win. Bar injury, bar some kind of catastrophe, he should be able to come away with something amazing, like a league title.</p><p>“He is too good not to. He’s an incredible goalscorer. He has shown that he can perform at World Cups with his country and in Germany plying his trade. He’s too good not to have a trophy. He’s 31 now so it’s the perfect time for him to win something. Hopefully then he goes on to win a couple more.”</p>

WHAT SOL CAMPBELL SAID

<p>With Kane seemingly in the market for more than one addition to his medal collection, it appears unlikely that the all-time leading goalscorer in Tottenham’s history will <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/win-trophy-rejoin-spurs-break-alan-shearer-record-ex-tottenham-star-possible-premier-league-return-bayern-munich-striker-harry-kane/bltc72d1cc3d68a2bfd" target="_blank">ever grace another north London derby</a>. Campbell, though, is ruling nothing out and added on the prolific frontman’s future: “Never say never. You never know. But he looks like he’s enjoying himself. Bayern is a proper club – run properly, great fans. They know how to win. </p><p>“Does he want to win one and that’s it? He’ll probably want to win a couple before he’s done there – at least two league titles. I can’t see him just winning one thing and coming back. He’s at a proper club. When you go to a club like that, you start to notice and feel the quality of how things are done. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but you can see why – internally – some clubs are winning, or why they are built to win.”</p>

Teams are always tracking players. Sometimes something comes up and comes to a head when teams just say ‘let’s get what we can now’. </p><p>“Why wait until the end of the season? Maybe the player has got one year left after the season, six months, it’s a time when hierarchies at different teams that have a top player with six months or 18 months left, they have to decide ‘you know what, let’s just cash in’. A lot of teams will be looking to either get themselves out of relegation or get that Champions League spot or try to win the Premier League.”</p>
