<p>The England striker has a contract until the summer of 2027, but reports of an exit clause have continued to spark rumours. While Kane clarified he is "happy" at the club, former Bayern captain Effenberg doubts they will be able to hold on to the striker much longer, predicting he could walk away next year.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Kane became the most expensive signing in Bundesliga history when he <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/harry-kane-agrees-bayern-munich-tottenham-striker-travels-germany-medical/blt01b184f6740a2697" target="_self">joined Bayern in 2023</a>. The England international scored 36 league goals in his debut season to clinch his first European Golden Shoe. The 32-year-old <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/harry-kane-finally-win-trophy-bayern-impressive-win-stuttgart-instagram-bundesliga-title/blt640fe1810661cfb7" target="_blank">ended his career-long trophy drought </a>the following year after securing the Bundesliga title under Vincent Kompany.</p><p>The German club are rebuilding after the departures of Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane this summer. Club captain Manuel Neuer only extended his contract by one year and could leave next season. While Kane remains the attacking centrepiece, Effenberg believes Bayern need much more to be considered favourites for the Champions League next season.</p>

<p>In an interview with <a href="https://www.kicker.de/effenberg-im-interview-ich-bin-angeeckt-aber-immer-gestanden-wenn-der-wind-blies-1133841/artikel" target="_self"><em>Kicker</em></a>, Effenberg opened up about Bayern's chances of winning the Champions League season.</p><p>The former Bayern captain said: "I don't see Bayern Munich as the favourite," adding: "It will be exciting in Munich in the next one or two years. What will happen to Kane? He'll probably leave in 2026. Neuer will also be out. A new hierarchy will have to be formed."</p>

<p>Kane will continue to lead Bayern’s front line this season amid ongoing exit clause rumours. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga giants remain favourites to retain the league title. They have secured the <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/luis-diaz-completes-transfer-to-bayern-munich-from-liverpool-links-up-with-harry-kane/blt567916aaf11bd918" target="_blank">marquee signing of Luis Diaz from Liverpool</a> and after missing out on Florian Wirtz and Nico Williams.</p>
