Heung-Min Son files blackmail complaint to South Korean police after Tottenham captain victim of attempted extortion following pregnancy claims

<p>According to the <a href="https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20250514009500315?section=national/national" target="_blank">Yonhap News Agency</a> and <a href="https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/southkorea/society/20250514/son-heung-min-files-complaint-against-woman-for-blackmail-over-false-pregnancy-claim" target="_blank">The Korea Times</a>, a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s are being investigated by South Korean police on charges of attempted extortion. This episode began in June 2024.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The Tottenham captain reportedly said they falsely told him a woman was pregnant to extort several hundred million South Korean won from him. Police are now investigating the matter further after being informed of this by Son last week. </p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>One British pound is around 1,859 South Korean won, meaning she is allegedly asking for well over £10m. The 32-year-old Spurs player does not have a wife or any known children.</p>
