Ipswich allowed their star forward to travel to Manchester to get a first-hand experience of the club he could join ahead of the 2025-26 season.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>The Red Devils are confident of signing Delap, although they will <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-chelsea-confident-%C2%A330m-liam-delap-transfer-blues-ipswich-striker-enzo-maresca/blt93b3e7d7b8960adb#csd7c4e40f763ec29a" target="_blank">face fierce competition from Chelsea</a>. The 22-year-old striker has a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/liam-delap-cut-price-ipswich-relegation-release-clause-revealed-transfer-chelsea-man-utd/bltcd9ee75030b4dd21" target="_blank">£30 million ($40m) release clause in his contract</a>, which is now active after Ipswich's relegation from the Premier League was confirmed. The striker will evaluate his options and take some time before finalising his next destination.</p>

The Premier League giants have agreed to trigger the Brazilian's £62.5 million ($83.4m) release clause, although they are likely to pay the full amount in three instalments.</p>
