Jhon Duran set for Al-Nassr medical ahead of blockbuster €77m move from Aston Villa in transfer blow to Arsenal as Ollie Watkins plans are scuppered

<p>Duran started the 2024-25 campaign explosively but his form has dipped slightly and he's struggled to hold down a starting spot with star striker Ollie Watkins also impressing up top. But that lack of game time hasn't put off Al-Nassr, with the Saudi side willing to spend a whopping €77 million (£64.5m/$80m) plus add-ons on the 21-year-old Colombia international. According to<em> </em><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6096416/2025/01/29/jhon-duran-transfer-al-nassr-villa/" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a>, Duran will complete a medical in London on Thursday ahead of a potential move.</p><p></p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Given his clear quality and proven ability to score goals in the Premier League, many people will be disappointed to see Duran dropping out of top-tier European football for a slice of Saudi cash. But Villa's young star seems set on <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/jhon-duran-set-shock-cristiano-ronaldo-link-up-aston-villa-ready-accept-eur70m-transfer-bid-al-nassr/blt7a9bb339a831d751" target="_blank">accepting a lucrative five-and-a-half-year deal</a> that would see him join top international talents like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Aymeric Laporte at Al-Nassr.</p>

<p>Sixteen of Duran's 20 Premier League appearances this season have been off the bench, a stat which makes his seven league goals seem even more impressive. In total, the 21-year-old has racked up 12 goals in 55 Premier League games for Villa, and three in seven in the Champions League — a record that has helped to catapult the club into the knockout stages.</p>
