The German defender was linked with a move away from Bayer Leverkusen throughout the summer with clubs like <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/barcelona-bayern-munich-talks-jonathan-tah-tells-bayer-leverkusen-wont-extend-contract/blt2affead05c0dff8c" target="_blank">Bayern Munich and Barcelona reportedly interested in signing</a> him. Tah had even agreed to personal terms with the Bavarian side and would have signed a five-year contract with them, however, the club failed to reach an agreement with the Bundesliga champions over the player's transfer fee which was set at €30million (£25m/$33m).

WHAT HAPPENED?

A failed move to the Allianz Arena has affected Tah personally but the 28-year-old claimed that he was happy to continue playing under Xabi Alonso and is determined to achieve more success with the club in the 2024-25 campaign.

Speaking to <a href="https://sport.sky.de/transfer/news/34132/13207413/jonathan-tah-bezieht-stellung-zum-geplatzten-bayern-transfer" target="_blank">Sky Sports</a>, the Germany international said, "Of course, it's exhausting when there's such a back and forth. I don't want to lie, but in the end, I accept it. And as I also shared on social media: I'm completely here with my head."

WHAT JONATHAN TAH SAID

Alonso's side, who won the league title unbeaten last season, tasted defeat early in the current campaign as they went down 3-2 against RB Leipzig in just their second match on Saturday. They will be next seen in action after the international break against Hoffenheim on September 14 in the Bundesliga.
