WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Yamal only managed to stay for 10 minutes before being whisked away while still eating his popcorn, as reported by <a href="https://www.espn.com.br/futebol/flamengo/artigo/_/id/15320101/lamine-yamal-nba-house-passagem-relampago" target="_blank">ESPN</a>. The teenager is now hoping to meet his boyhood idol Neymar while in Brazil. The former Barcelona star is back in his homeland with Santos FC, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/neymar-ruled-out-again-santos-confirm-brazilian-tested-positive-covid/blt307316993b5d181a" target="_blank">although he has been sidelined recently after testing positive for Covid</a>. Yamal has long made it clear that <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-us/lists/lamine-yamal-snubs-lionel-messi-neymar-explains-why-brazilian-legend-main-idol/bltaf66b054492828e4" target="_blank">Neymar was his favourite player</a> when he was growing up and that he saw the Brazilian, and not Messi, as his main idol.</p>

<p>Yamal was asked about changing squad numbers last month. He told Cope: “At the moment, Ansu has it.
 I wear number 19 and I really like it; it’s brought me luck.
 Is there more pressure to play with number 10? When I go to shoot at goal, I’m not going to think about what number I’m wearing.”</p><p></p>

WHAT YAMAL HAS SAID

<p>Yamal still has plenty of time left to enjoy himself before Barcelona return to pre-season. The Catalan are due back on July 13 and will then start preparations for the new campaign and a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/barcelona-preseason-2025-tour-fixtures-results-tickets-how-to-watch/blt644e245a3807cfe7" target="_blank">pre-season tour to Asia</a>. Fans are likely to find out then what number Yamal will wear for the 205-26 season.</p><p></p>
