<p>The 22-year-old striker has seen his release clause at Portman Road triggered. That <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/liam-delap-cut-price-ipswich-relegation-release-clause-revealed-transfer-chelsea-man-utd/bltcd9ee75030b4dd21" target="_blank">became active once the Tractor Boys suffered relegation</a> out of the Premier League at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.</p>

His <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/ipswich-give-liam-delap-permission-transfer-talks-with-man-utd-ruben-amorim-new-striker-signing-matheus-cunha-deal/bltac4ea85bceeea99d" target="_blank">potential was noted by several clubs</a> ahead of becoming available in the summer window.</p>

<p>According to <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6396311/2025/06/01/chelsea-delap-transfer-update-contract/ " target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a>, Chelsea have <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/chelsea-win-race-liam-delap-blues-closing-in-move-ipswich-star-striker-gives-green-light-stamford-bridge-switch/blt40f36434c877a64b" target="_blank">won the race for a much sought-after signature</a>. They are poised to sign Delap on a six-year contract that will run until 2031. He is due to undergo a medical in west London on Monday.</p>
