The Premier League champions are likely to wait until after June 30, when the PSR cycle resets, to consider their options in terms of a bid. </p>

Though breaking the bank on two players may be a stretch, the sales of Jarell Quansah and Darwin Nunez could help soften the blow. </p>

<p>Isak still has three years remaining on his deal at Newcastle but <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/alexander-isak-newcastle-smash-wage-structure-arsenal-liverpool-target-highest-paid-player-ever/bltcbbcbc9dd97e64a9" target="_self">may have to offer him considerably more to persuade him to extend</a>. The Swede reportedly earns £130,000 a week, a figure Liverpool could easily trump. </p>

<p>The report is also clear that Liverpool will not sign a centre-forward for the sake of it this summer. A deal for Isak may be pursued but the club will not necessarily turn to plan B or plan C.</p>
