The 21-year-old has played just 257 minutes, and he has made just one start in the Bundesliga.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Carvalho made four Premier League starts for Liverpool last season but was ostensibly loaned to Leipzig to receive further first-team minutes within a different environment, which has yet to happen consistently. As a result, <a href="https://www.thisisanfield.com/2023/12/liverpool-in-talks-to-recall-fabio-carvalho-from-leipzig-loan/" target="_blank">This Is Anfield</a> reports that Liverpool are considering recalling Carvalho - a move that could then allow them to loan him out again in January.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Carvalho is a Portugal Under-21 international, despite playing for England at various youth levels, and he has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/fabio-carvalho-fractured-relationship-jurgen-klopp-liverpool-loan-rb-leipzig/bltd2cb6fa161c553c4" target="_blank">previously hinted that the reason for his loan move</a> came about after a fall-out with manager Jurgen Klopp.
