The Reds reportedly <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/liverpool-talks-sporting-cp-boss-ruben-amorim-fee-jurgen-klopp-replacement/blt5e268cb32105db8c" target="_blank">opened talks with the 39-year-old's agent</a> last week and journalist <a href="https://twitter.com/pedromsepulveda/status/1777025501145498076" target="_blank">Pedro Sepulveda</a> has now claimed that another meeting was scheduled for Monday to discuss the final terms of his contract with the Anfield club. However, the Premier League side have made no contact with Sporting so far.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Amorim has emerged as a top candidate to take Klopp's place in the Liverpool hot seat next season after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/xabi-alonso-decision-rejects-bayern-munich-liverpool-bayer-leverkusen-stay/blt3f58b772b9b209a9" target="_blank">Xabi Alonso confirmed he will not be leaving Bayer Leverkusen</a> this summer. Amorim has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/ruben-amorim-liverpool-hope-coach-reveals-reason-could-leave-sporting-guarantee-replace-jurgen-klopp/bltb011c077142c3385" target="_blank">refused to guarantee that he would still be at Sporting in 2024-25</a>, admitting that he would leave the club if they fail to win any trophies this term.

Amorim took charge of Sporting four years ago and guided the club to the Primeira Liga title in his first season, winning the first of his two Taca da Liga crowns in the same season. His contract with the Portuguese club runs until 2026.
