<p><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6180667/2025/03/06/liverpool-alexander-isak-arsenal-striker-transfers/" target="_blank">Per David Ornstein of <em>The Athletic</em></a>, Liverpool are interested in signing Isak this summer but there is also interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona. Newcastle value the Sweden international at £150 million ($193m), but the Reds are keen to avoid a bidding war, or as Ornstein puts it, a "wild goose chase".</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Isak has been electric for Newcastle this season, scoring 19 goals in 24 Premier League outings. He also has five assists, meaning he has a goal contribution for every game he has played in the league this term.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Newcastle are said to be planning for the future with Isak, as he has a contract until 2028, and their eye-watering asking price is set as such to ensure that the centre-forward remains at the club. Liverpool would only be willing to make a move if he were to communicate a desire to leave.</p>
