<p>England international Shaw has made just three substitute appearances for the Red Devils this season and has not started a game at club level since February 2024 – with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/devastated-heartbroken-luke-shaw-statement-new-muscle-injury-rule-man-utd-defender-out/blt36000955aeea2070" target="_blank">injury problems continuing to hold him back</a>. The 29-year-old faced criticism last summer for taking risks on his fitness when <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/luke-please-hamstring-again-man-utd-co-owner-sir-jim-ratcliffe-hilarious-message-shaw-euro-2024-final-celebrities/blt592d944979338966" target="_blank">linking up with his country at Euro 2024</a>.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Shaw only figured in 15 games for United last term, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/luke-shaw-slammed-not-prioritising-man-utd-peter-schmeichel-defender-injury-euro-2024-england/blt21139924401ebbd4" target="_blank">struggles for consistency being traced back</a> to the broken leg that he suffered in 2016. He was a £30 million ($37m) signing for the Red Devils when they lured him away from Southampton in the summer of 2014.</p>
