<p>Former England international Carson moved to the Etihad Stadium in 2019. He originally joined on loan, before completing a permanent free transfer in the summer of 2021. The veteran shot-stopper was always aware that he would be filling a back-up role in Manchester.</p>

<p>His only competitive outings for City came in a Premier League clash with Newcastle in May 2021 and a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/news/manchester-city-goalkeeper-carson-makes-champions-league-history-with-first-appearance-since-2005/blt4f39046b248d8b68" target="_blank">Champions League last-16 encounter with Sporting the following season</a>. Carson has been a popular figure behind the scenes throughout his time with the Cityzens.</p>

WHAT MAN CITY SAID

<p>According to <a href="https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/06/09/man-city-eye-chelsea-marcus-bettinelli-replace-scott/" target="_blank"><em>The Telegraph</em></a>, City are looking to bring in Chelsea keeper Marcus Bettinelli as Carson’s replacement. The 33-year-old is third choice at Stamford Bridge, with just one appearance - in a 2022 FA Cup clash with Chesterfield - under his belt.</p>
