<p>According to <a href="https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1879972006105600204" target="_blank"><em>Fabrizio Romano,</em></a><em> </em>City have finalized an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the transfer of the Egyptian forward in an attempt to strengthen their attacking options for the remainder of the season. Negotiations between the two clubs hit a snag when Frankfurt rejected an initial bid from City. The German club had valued Marmoush at <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/frankfurt-manchester-city-omar-marmoush-bundesliga-st-pauli-eintracht-frankfurt/bltf07d915719c4e1ee" target="_blank">€80 million (£67.1m/$82m)</a>, while City initially offered closer to €60m (£50.4m/$61.5m). </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Marmoush joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023 and has quickly established himself as a prolific scorer. In just 67 appearances for Frankfurt, he has netted 37 goals, cementing his reputation as one of the league’s most reliable forwards. This season, Marmoush has continued his impressive form, scoring 15 league goals, including one in <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-city-omar-marmoush-goal-two-assists-eintracht-frankfurt/bltb967fa8f9b896d9b" target="_blank">Frankfurt’s recent 4-1 victory over Freiburg. </a></p>

<p>Marmoush’s arrival will address City’s lack of center-forward options following Julian Alvarez’s summer move to Atletico Madrid. Erling Haaland has shouldered the burden of leading the line, starting all 27 of City’s games across the Premier League and Champions League this season.</p>

<p>Marmoush isn’t the only player City have added to their ranks in the January window. The club has already committed over £60m ($73m) to secure young centre-backs Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov.
