The Red Devils had commissioned Oxford Economics - one of the world's top global advisory firms - to assess the economic impact of their <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-planning-demolish-old-trafford-build-2bn-wembley-of-the-north-100-000-seater-stadium-major-u-turn/bltcf4e1a9984ae75f2#cs9afeb943ee28bb98" target="_blank">ambitious project of building a new 100,000-seater stadium</a>. The preliminary assessment has revealed that the project could provide a whopping £7.3bn boost to the UK economy every year, as claimed by the <a href="https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/old-trafford-regeneration-can-deliver-huge-economic-growth?t=y" target="_blank">club</a>. United are already working on a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/old-trafford-manchester-united-masterplan-new-stadium-architects/blt9bcb8c705831a722" target="_blank">masterplan to redevelop the area around Old Trafford</a>.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The new project will involve the creation of <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wembley-of-the-north-man-utd-sir-jim-ratcliffe-bold-plans-spectacular-new-old-trafford-home/blt7b7c37a27c980714#cs879213cbf4b1ed8c" target="_blank">92,000 job opportunities and 17,000 new homes</a>. The new Trafford Park will see the club construct a world-class 100,00 seater stadium and several other mixed-used developments that will benefit the local community. It will attract visitors from Manchester, UK and across the world, the club says.

United's new partial-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is also the UK's richest man, has made the rebuilding of the club's iconic stadium <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-urged-demolish-old-trafford-replace-new-2billion-stadium-sir-jim-ratcliffe-glazers/blt956fdd8a2dc99b4d" target="_blank">his top priority</a> ever since he bought a minority stake at the club.
