<p>According to a transfer exclusive from <a href="https://www.caughtoffside.com/2025/04/16/man-utd-chelsea-mike-maignan-transfer/" target="_blank">Caught Offside</a>, Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has identified AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan as the ideal replacement for Andre Onana, who is likely to depart after two unconvincing seasons in goal. However, United could face competition from fellow Premier League sides Chelsea and Aston Villa, who are also interested in the Frenchman. </p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

Indeed, the Cameroonian was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/andre-onana-out-man-utd-newcastle-granted-time-off-ruben-amorim-lyon-horror-show/blt0b3de87592f77915" target="_blank">dropped by Amorim from United's squad</a> for last weekend's Premier League fixture against Newcastle United, which the Red Devils ultimately lost 4-1. “We need to improve every position on the field – the goalkeeper is the same. <p>That's where Maignan comes into the picture, whose renewal talks with Milan have taken an eternity with no conclusion in sight. The goalkeeper is under contract with the Rossoneri until June 2026, meaning that a <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/manic-transfer-window-incoming-ac-milan-ready-to-cash-in-three-stars-champions-league-qualification/blt4b37894ea704d621" target="_blank">summer sale would be the most likely outcome</a> should the contract extension talks collapse. Per the report from Caught Offside, Milan will demand at least €40 million (£34m/$45m). </p>
