There is plenty of speculation to suggest that Netherlands international De Ligt will soon be Premier League-bound. Fellow countryman and former Ajax boss <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/erik-ten-hag-matthijs-de-ligt-transfer-swoop-man-utd-misstep-bayern-munich-defender-backwards-since-leaving-ajax/blt80793dba77e38ff2" target="_blank">Erik ten Hag is said to want the 24-year-old defender</a> at Old Trafford.

Bayern are reportedly leaving themselves open to offers for De Ligt as they have already put a deal in place for Hiroki Ito and now have their sights set on Germany international Jonathan Tah – with Dayot Upamecano, Eric Dier and Kim Min-jae already on their books.

Bayern fans are, however, eager to see De Ligt stay put. They are determined to get that point across to the club’s board, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bayern-munich-fans-try-stop-matthijs-de-ligt-man-utd-transfer-thousands-sign-petition-keep-defender/bltc53f92aebc712746" target="_blank">a petition started</a> that highlights how the Dutchman is a “world-class” defender and “probably the best in our squad”. He is said to have a “promising future ahead of him” and a “good mentality”.
