<p>Per <a href="https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1859508798802575382" target="_blank"><em>Fabrizio Romano</em></a>, United have begun to scout potential left-back additions as they aim to reshape their squad under Amorim. The club view a new full-back as a priority target and Romano claims they have more than three options already.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>United have found it difficult at left-back in recent months, having to deploy Noussair Mazraoui in the position due to Luke Shaw's injury issues. Tyrell Malacia has also struggled with injury, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/tyrell-malacia-back-forgotten-man-utd-star-return-17-month-injury-4-1-loss-huddersfield-efl-trophy/bltb97fc5c7fa34dd93" target="_blank">although he recently returned to competitive action after a 17-month layoff</a>.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>It remains to be seen if Amorim will be able to bring a new left-back in during the January window, given that reports suggest he will be <a href="https://www.goal.com/en/lists/man-utd-ruben-amorim-handed-reduced-budget-ineos-end-to-red-devils-transfer-mistakes/blt5909f98355e60061" target="_blank">forced to operate with a reduced budget at Old Trafford</a>. Romano claims a deal is more likely to be done in the summer. </p>
