<p>The attacker suffered the problem in training last week and <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/marcus-rashford-season-over-aston-villa-injury-update-man-utd-loanee-misses-fa-cup-semi-final-defeat/blt122c8ad7c0c6cf40" target="_blank">missed Villa's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace</a> on Saturday as a result. <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6317424/2025/04/28/marcus-rashford-injury-aston-villa-manchester-united/" target="_blank"><em>The Athletic</em></a> now reports that the Manchester United loanee is 'highly likely' to miss the remainder of 2024-25.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>There is a slim chance Rashford will be fit in time for Villa's penultimate game of the season against Tottenham, <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-ng/lists/aston-villa-reject-tottenham-appeal-move-premier-league-fixture-ange-postecoglou-europa-league-final/blt7e7962f904e23e90" target="_blank">which could be moved from its current date of May 18</a>, but he is ineligible for their final-day fixture at his parent club Man Utd on May 25.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>The 27-year-old faces further tests to determine the severity of the injury, but it is not thought that he will need surgery. Rashford will undergo his rehabilitation with his loan side rather than returning to Manchester, despite the end of the season looming large - perhaps hinting at a stay at Villa Park beyond the summer.</p>

<p>The untimely injury might complicate Rashford's future. Villa have a £40 million ($50m) option to sign him permanently from United but it <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/marcus-rashford-antony-return-man-utd-ruben-amorim-happy-see-duo-shine-aston-villa-real-betis/bltf951314dd09236f1" target="_blank">remains to be seen whether they will take that up,</a> despite the England international impressing with 10 goal involvements in 17 appearances. For now, his focus will be on getting fit for England's fixtures in June.</p>
