Balotelli claimed in November that he was <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/strongest-mario-balotelli-italy-best-striker-international-recall/blt717632f0eeb82788#csb9135da9ebac3742" target="_blank">still the "strongest" Italian striker</a> in a bid to force a recall to the national team, and he has <a href="https://football-italia.net/balotelli-on-radar-of-three-serie-a-sides/" target="_blank">now been linked</a> with a potential return to Serie A. Udinese, Salernitana and Empoli have all been credited with an interest in the 33-year-old by <a href="https://www.footmercato.net/a1863570823922429940-adana-demirspor-mario-balotelli-en-a-marre-de-la-turquie" target="_blank">Foot Mercato</a>, whose contract in Turkey expires this summer.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Balotelli has seen his minutes limited by knee surgery this season, as he has made just five league appearances. The former Manchester City and Inter striker has scored three goals in that time and the report claims that Balotelli would like to return to Serie A in order to put himself in contention for Italy's Euro 2024 squad.

Balotelli has endured a nomadic career in recent years. Since leaving Manchester City in 2013, he has played for AC Milan, Liverpool, Nice, Marseille, Brescia, Monza, Adana Demirspor and Sion. He has won 36 caps for Italy to date, scoring 14 goals.
